Hi, I’m Sadie — the hands and heart behind The Flyaway Thread! A small business utilizing quilts to create one of a kind pieces.

I’m a self-taught maker, but in many ways, this journey started long before I ever held a quilt. Growing up, my mom sewed clothes for our family using thrifted fabrics. Watching her taught me the value of hard work, creativity, and how beautiful things can be made from what others might overlook.

My love for art has always been part of who I am, but what truly sparked this business was seeing how many stunning vintage quilts end up forgotten or discarded. Every stitch in those quilts tells a story — and I wanted to give that story a second chapter. With The Flyaway Thread, I get to transform those forgotten textiles into one-of-a-kind, wearable pieces that preserve the original maker’s artistry and bring it into the spotlight.
